I am the Resisting GI, Byron Lee Trackwell, who served in the U. S. Army, Army Reserves & National Guard in the mid 80s. After the first Iraq War (1990-1991), I took up the hobby of constitutional law in Qatar. I am currently a Petroleum Engineer for Qatar Petroleum.

I with others entertained the U.S. troops during that first war; we would visit, have dinner, and party with them. I got to sit in a cockpit of an F-16 fighter jet and the unofficial going away party was held for one of the F-16 squadrons at my accommodation. Patriotism at its best!
I was into constitutional law for about 10 years when the triangle commenced to burn hot between the United Nations, Iraq and the United States and I knew what was required pursuant to the Constitution, 1973 War Powers Act and the 2002 October Resolution. Law is technical and not emotional, it is OK to be passionate and think a quarter back is the King of an NFL football team, but when it comes to whom gets to make a Declaration of War; we have no Kings for doing that. Did America’s newly elected 108th Congress wished to Declare War against Iraq? I do not know? But I do know that Congress only had the exclusive right to say, you got 48 hours to get out of Dodge or here I come with the Greatest Military on Earth!
That may not be popular with everybody, however, law is not about popularity, it is about proper constitutional procedures that in this instance was contrary to revved up patriotism for blindly going to war! A president does not have authority to make a Declaration of War and invade a huge country like Iraq within 48 hours! So forget about all the lies and what have you about the 2003-???? Iraq War that diverts from the obvious; that this war is contrary to our Constitution and is illegal!
I could have never lived with my conscience without this website! Passionately, I did not want to do all that I have done against this War. My problem is that I am logical like Spock on Star Trek and here I am against the Most Powerful County on Earth. However, passionately, my love for America will never cease as America is the coolest nation on Earth as Truth, Justice and the American Way will never die!
